PROFILE
Alan O'Neil- Bass Guitar

Some say Alan is the oldest member of the band, others just say the most experienced; however he has always been restricted to playing bass - anybody hearing Alan sing would understand this.
Born and bred in Newcastle upon Tyne he spent the majority of his 1960's teen years at the local youth club where he played in various wannabe bands before eventually departing for Bath Uni. Being a poor student he sold his Epihone bass with much regret. It wasn't until 1979 that Alan picked up the bass again and became the proud owner of a 1971 Fender Precision (British racing green). It wasn't until 2004 that a 5 string Musicman was introduced as the main gig guitar.
The band he joined in 1979 started as LAST LEGS and ended as REWIND in April 2008. Two other founder band members, Lionel Hehir & Derrick Robson, were friends from the 1960's playing years. Other Jamshak members joined over the 29years the band were together - Kev in 1982; John in 2004 & Alan K in 2006. LAST LEGS / REWIND played over 300 gigs raising an estimated £10,000 for charities, schools and other good causes. Theses years are littered with great memories and stories and Alan always says how privileged and lucky he was to be able to mix friendship with music over such a long period.
Leaving it till late, in 2004, Alan decided to go back to "school" and learn to read & understand music - well bass clef at least! Favourite bassist - James Jamieson. Influences - the next bass player he hears and his fantastic bass tutor Paul Susans. Alan is gigging proof of the old saying "there are no wrong notes in bass playing just bad choices and very bad choices"
